Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Smack Off Eve

Today, Jim described what he called "The Triangle of Hate" between Vic in NoCal, Brad in Corona, and Mike in Indy. He played clips of what each had to say about the others.

I was finally able to get my RSVP in. I said that Matt in Cleveland's "...global warming..." made me spit through my neck. I took a couple of shot's at Greg in Vegas and Israel in Los Angeles, ending with a "Robocop" impression. (That was hard.)

Toby in Houston shout outs started again with Memphis Grizzlies' head coach, Lionel Hollins, doing the deed at the end of his interview today.

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

In the Smack Off??

I received a message via Twitter on Friday that I, Greg in Sun Valley, was mentioned as being in the 2011 Smack Off. I tried to get a few others to confirm, but was unable.
On Monday, March 14 Jim Rome was naming participants and said that I was on the "bubble" and that he had his eye on me.
Today, near the end of the show, an E mailer "warred" me getting a Smack Off invite and Rome said that I was in....and the clip of my portable buzzer was played.

So, I guess it's official. Back to back Smack Off invites! Now I just need for Rome to put me on air on April 8th!
Readers from last year will remember that I spent the entire Smack Off on hold and did not get on.
Jim invites around 30 people to each Smack Off, yet there is only time for around 15-17 calls.

I would like to be the first ever cyborg in the Smack Off!

Let the Pre-Smack Off Begin

On today's show, the reigning Smack off champ, Vic in NoCal, made his return to the phones. He referenced the reach of the Jungle: "...from Maine to Baja to 'The Canadian Rockies'." (The last phrase in "Hack-Saw" voice.) By adding Jungle insiders in other parts of the globe, Vic said, "...the sun never sets on my empire..."
He then commanded the clones not to call him Vic, but rather "Broadway". He said he earned it by calling his shot last year and cashing it in with the win. "Broadway" compared calling him Vic to British subjects calling Queen Elizabeth "Liz".
He took shots along the way at Brad in Corona, Iafrate, and Trapper, as well as saying that people from Twitter were on the way to his house to verify his account.

Lo and behold, a short time later, Rome told us that Kyle Brandt took a call from one of those that took a shot from Vic. The caller said he needed 10 minutes to get to a land line, so he could "destroy" Vic.
That caller was none other than 2009 Smack Off Champ, Brad in Corona.
Brad asked Vic, "...That's what took you 9 months?..." He compared his feelings about Vic's call to what visitors to KyleBrandt.com feel.
Regarding Twitter, Brad referenced @Vicnocal having only 1,000 followers, saying it meant only .000000001% of the Jungle audience felt he was interesting enough to follow after each of his many calls.
Finally, Brad ended his call saying that "Weighson Sherbert" is the Charlie Sheen of the Jungle....."Duh, ...eating!"

It was a good Pre-Smack Off day. The only question that remained was who would get the huge call of the day.

Rome gave it to Brad.

5'11" Dunker

Rome featured a 5'11" dunker on his Facebook page and JRIB today.
It occurred to me that I had seen something like that before...From my son!

Weighson Sherbert

Everyone's favorite call screener, Jason Stewart, performed a song about himself today. It was written by 2009 Smack Off winner, Brad in Corona and produced by Alvin Delloro. It was set to the tune of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi".

It started with the line, "Cinnabon in my face....fries all over the place."

Initially I sent a Twitter message to J. Stew to the effect of "With all due respect, that was horrendous."

Then I realized, that J. Stew not only "goes with" the fat jokes. He also "goes with" the fact that he can't sing, and didn't try to be a great singer.
It also hearken's back to his "Blind Date" appearance where he was obviously not trying to impress the girl or get a second date.

At the end of the show, Jim brought Stew on air. He obviously had food in his mouth. It WAS Dominos Friday, but Stew was playing up the whole food theme to the song. He also mention that Kyle Brandt is all about the way he looks. To this, Rome replied, "You're not!" A minute later, Jim tells us that KB just came in and gave Stew something, saying, "Here you go, fat boy!"

So "Weighson Sherbert" is not a masterpiece, but it sure is funny. You can go to jimrome.com to hear the song as well as read the lyrics.

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

A few observations from yesterday's and today's shows...

Yesterday

Jim talked about Steven Segal teaching UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva the front kick he delivered to Vitor Belfort's face last Saturday night.
Clips of Segal saying, "Ka-ra-tay" were played and a few E mails cracked on "Mason Storm".
Jim said we he can't crack on the guy after that kick. When he later did, Jim "warned" himself, saying, "You're warned, Van Smack. Do it again, and you're BLOCKED!

Today

Clay Matthews got some run as a Superbowl champ, and...one loved by dorks?
The Green Bay Packer quoted J.R.R. Tolkien on Twitter, saying, "...one ring to rule them all..."
Rome mentioned again how Clay went to Agoura High here in SoCal. Famous people from Jim's and KB's high school were mentioned so I sent in an E mail: "Rome: North Hollywood High: Adam Carolla, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Greg in Sun Valley."
I was surprised when it got read. Jim threw in a few "VAAANNN SMAAAAACK's" for good measure.

Matt in the Fred got BLOCKED on the texts! I'm sure we'll hear more from him through E mails and Tweets.
He referenced Jim getting a "machine gun" filled with some kind of drink from a band by saying "Buffetson Chewart" had a maching gun filled with gravy.
