Summary of today's Jim Rome Show
In the first segment of the show, Jim covered the LA Lakers, and reset the "Hack Off" RSVP's from yesterday.
NBA
Lakers
Rome: "...Losing 3 in a row is no reason for the Lakers to panic. But, losing a 4th at home to Toronto may have been. And they needed another buzzer beater from the 'Black Mamba' and a soccer fan going soccer fan courtside in order to get that win...I'm still not jumping on that panic button, but I've moved a little closer to it..."
The "Hack Off"
After an E mail came in about Jolene, Jim reset yesterday's RSVP calls for the Hack Off. First Eddie in Boise said he would be there, then Jolene. Jim replayed her "bowel movement" comment. Then he said, "I don't know that anything in the event is going to top that." He mentioned others going as low as that. (Did he forget that he said the winner must really try to be good...and be the "best" call of the day, not the worst?)
Corey Haim
The former child actor passed away. E mailers wanted Jim to comment. He said, "...What do you think I'm going to say about that ...I'm not a ghoul...It's tragic. That's my take."
Interviews
Evan Turner (Ohio State)
The Player of the Year candidate talk with Jim about his vertabra injury, his teams perseverence, and whether or not he will go to the NBA next year. Jim asked him if he, even privately, had decided on the NBA. "Honestly, I haven't...," Evan said.
Sean Payton (New Orleans Saints)
Jim asked if winning it all was as he thought it would be. He replied, "...It is...It's hard to describe. Jim qualified the question, asking if it felt as good as Sean thought it would. "Yeah, there's no question..." Sean also expressed feeling good for the team and others involved.
Caller
"Vinny Mac" called in to RSVP for the Hack Off. He mention the "Vinny Mac Nation" and called out Eddie in Boise, telling him to take off his diaper and put it on his face.
Interview
Kurt Busch (NASCAR)
Kurt was not happy with Carl Edwards actions over the weekend or the penalty handed out by NASCAR.
Kurt will cross over and drag race this weekend with there being no NASCAR race.
Fan Photo
An anonymous fan sent in artwork that reworked a Star Wars photo. Jim and the XR4ti are depicted among others. Jim is "Han Rome". Kyle is portrayed as Lando Kylerissian (with abs). J. Stew is "J. Stewalker". Guidry is X-wing fighter Philip "Donaghy" (with the wrist thing). Al Davis is depicted as Darth Raider. J. Mohr is "Bobba FAT", and Alvin's head pops out of R2D2!

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
Summary of today's Jim Rome Show
Jim opened saying,"The show may start slow but...it's going to start kicking ass real soon." He was resetting what J. Stew said before his karaoke song last weekend.
NFL
Ben Roethlisberger
Rome: "...Of course this guy's innocent until proven guilty. Innocent until proven guilty of a crime. But I've got no problem convicting him of stupidity right now...in the first degree...right here and right now. Although no charges have been filed, police are investigating whether or not he sexually assaulted a 20 year old college student in a small Georgia town...oh, and that he's still battling a civil suit from his first accuser...Exactly what was this guy thinking? Prowling the bars and trolling for college kids...allegedly...I'm not looking for this guy to split the atom, but that's stupid...and that's reckless...maybe he didn't do anything wrong...Maybe he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time...But if so, he put himself there. And that's on him. 100%.
NASCAR
Jim said, "...Speaking of wreckless and dangerous, and brain dead. How about Carl Edwards deliberately trying... and succeeding in wrecking Brad Keselowski's rig Saturday? ...Memo to NASCAR...Anytime you want to get around to suspending Edwards, that'd be great..."
Later in the show the news came out that NASCAR was putting Edwards on probation for 3 races. Rome didn't think this was much of a punishment.
NBA
Jim Rome says Dallas may be the biggest threat to the Lakers in the West. "...All the sudden, if I'm the Lakers, that's who I'm concerned about...They've got so many weapons and so many ways to beat you...They're tougher now...They play harder now...It's all because of that trade...They got Caron Butler...Brendan Haywood..."
NFL
Detroit special teammer Zack Follett got into a cage with real lions to promote being on the Lions.
Jim in Fall River
Jim got an E mail that read, "Hey Jim. I'm getting ready for the next Smack Off by getting into a cage with a donkey. Jim in Fall River."
Jim reset who the legendary caller was. He then told us that Jim in Fall River has been hitting him up on his (Rome's) personal Facebook page to make him a friend. Jim said he would if Jim in Fall River calls the show. It has been years since he has called.
Interview
Jay Wright (Villanova basketball)
He came on and answered a question about how he felt about his team, "I feel better than most of our fans do..." He said it was tough to integrate his young big men with his returning backcourt players.
They also spoke of Scotty Reynolds. Jay acknowledged having had more athletic players in the past, but, "...Scotty just has had an incredible impact on our program." He told of Scotty's many clutch performances in big situations. Then, "I don't think there's a player that's had the impact that he's had..."
The Hack Off
Jim began to set the field. He also called it "The Eddie in Boise Invitational". Soon after, Eddie in Boise called in to RSVP. He said he would be there and be ready for the "Smack Off...I mean Hack Off."
The field so far:
-Eddie in Boise
-Aaron in Canton
-Jolene in Farmington
-Vinny Mac
-Parody Patrick
-Nezrin
-Corey in Buffalo
Late in the show, Jolene in Farminton called in to RSVP. She said, "You can not be asked to be on the Jim Rome Show and not accept. I accept...You end up on the Jim Rome Show, you're coming out someone's bowel movement. That's all I got to say."
Jim said, "I feel better about my selection than I did even before I invited you. You're in, Jolene...

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
Summary of Today's Jim Rome Show
In the opening, Jim told of today's interview's and of getting to the story of J. Stew singing karaoke over the weekend. Jim has the audio!
NBA
Lakers vs Magic
Rome: "...Let me start first with the Lakers-Magic game yesterday. Pretty nice game. That game may have looked and felt like game 7 of the NBA finals and judging from some of the reaction...a number of you seem to think that the Lakers are completely unravelling...to quote my man Chris Johnson, 'C'mon son!' ...The Lakers season is not imploding any more than the Magic got revenge yesterday with that win...C'mon Son! What are you going to tell me next? That the Magic now are the team to beat because they have an alleged 'Kobe Stopper' in Matt Baners?..."
Jim went on to talk about Matt Barnes trash talking and "ball faking" to Kobe's face. Jim said the Lakers were fine even if Pau Gasol doesn't think so. He compared Pau's comments to the famous hockey quote, "...I can't get my 60 goals!"
Ron Artest's hair
He sported a new "do". Jim said, "...That's not some cheap pub grab. That's not a 'look at me' dye job. That's Artest looking to kick start his 'inner Ron Ron'."
Tim Tebow
Tebow is charging $160 for an autograph. A portion of the proceeds go to his foundation. Nevertheless, Rome was surprised Tebow was charging that. Jim asked what the percentage was that was going to his foundation. He was also surprised that 1500 people paid that amount!
E Mail
"Hey Rome. Stop whatever you're doing and play the karaoke. Tell Curry and Goodman they'll need to reschedule. Forget the Lakers and Magic. Play the karaoke." TC in Portland
Another E mailer said, "...Don't turn this into a 'Vinny Mac style' waiting game."
J. Stew sings!
J. Stew and Kyle Brandt went out with their girlfriends and ended up singing karaoke. Rome said J. Stew messed up the video of Kyle singing but Kyle successfully recorded J. Stew. He sang "Better Man" by Pearl Jam. Jim played Eddie Vedder singing first then played J. Stew's version.
Rome: "...But that 2nd one...was that Vedder sounding like Elvis or was that J. Stew with some sort of 'goat thing'?...what is that?...baaaaa."
Interviews
Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
He is a rookie point guard and a former NCAA All American. He told Jim that the NBA is "exactly what I thought it would be...since I was around it with my dad." (Dell Curry). Stephen said the season was not as he thought it would be because of all the injuries the Warriors have had. Jim brought up Stephen's brother, Seth, who is at Duke as a redshirt. Stephen is expecting good things from him next year at Duke.
Jeff Goodman (FOXSPORTS.com)
He came on to talk NCAA Basketball. He thinks the four number one seeds in the NCAA Tournament will most likely be Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Duke. Jim asked Jeff's opinion on the possibility of expanding the tournament. Jeff doesn't like the idea but thinks it will eventually happen. Jeff's Player of the Year choice is Evan Turner of Ohio State.

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
5 HOUR ENERGY DRINK
Friday Format of the Clone Report
Today's show:
Sports - Jim started the show with a take on Barry Zito hitting Prince Fielder with a pitch in a spring training game apparently in response to a celebration by Fielder last year.
Jungle - Jim told us of Vic in NoCal posting a video on the Facebook fan page that says that Brad in Corona "reversed engineered" some smack by Vic and slightly changed it then used it as his own.
My Choice for Interview of the Week
Nick Schuyler
This interview was of the lone survivor of last year's boating accident that claimed the lives of 2 NFL players and a former college football player. It was a solemn conversation handle well by Jim Rome.
My Top 5 Funniest Moments of the Week
5. Jim's take comparing Tim Tebow's combine achievements to the "Presidential Phyical Fitness Test" we use to take in school.
4. E mail by Dean no longer in Omaha that commented on Jim's new web
page: "...I'm unable to find the link to the Rat Family.."
3. Dan in DC's call. Of J. Stew, he said, "He reminds me of a young Brando...
Steve Brando.
2. Vic in NoCal's video posted on the Facebook fan page. Jim played the
audio on air. At the end, he spliced Brad in Corona's words so that Brad
admitted to stealing Vic's smack.
1. The HACK OFF!
The idea was funny, the reaction to it was funny, and....IT will be funny!
Friday's Text Contest Selections
"Hey Rome. Unwar the guy that throws his keys at you and says, 'You wreck it, you bought it'." Dave in PA
"Triple U sponsor: Grown men that say they need to use the little boys room."
Actual Triple U: "Hey Rome. Did he say that sex before a fight is not recommended? PSSSSST! Please! Signed, Adultrick, Magic, and Garv."
Response: Jim said, "That's the epitome of Unfunny, Unreadable, and Uninspired....Now you're warned!"

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
Summary of today's Jim Rome Show
Jim began the day with a take on:
Tiger Woods
Tiger's caddy, Steve Williams was in the news. He did an interview. In it, he told "TV 3's" 60 Minutes that he knew nothing of Tiger's extramarital affairs. He even said he was mad at Tiger because of all of it.
Jim Rome was skeptical. He commented, "...didn't know anything, or knew everything. One or the other I'm sure...The number one rule for any caddy is: Never, ever talk about you player...or you'll be looking for a new job. And you'll be luck to find another one..."
Jim expressed that he thought Tiger wants Williams to say the things he said in order to appease Elin Woods.
MMA
Former boxing champion James Toney is crossing over to MMA. Rome said, "...shockingly UFC head Dana White is going to give him a shot...This is the UFC...the majors."
And, as Jim often says, he is hoping for an "A" or an "F" from Toney.
The New JimRome.com
Jim read an E mail:
Dear VAAANNN SMAAACCKK! Now that's a website! Regards, James in San Diego."
The new website is up. Jim joked that he is no longer in 1994. The old format had been around for years. Stream link subscribers are now known as "Jungle Insiders".
Interview
Nick Schuyler ( Author of "Not Without Hope")
Nick was the lone survivor of a boating accident last year that claimed the lives of former college football player Will Blakely, Detroit Lion Corey Smith, and Raider Marquis Cooper.
It was a compelling interview of a man involved in a tragic story. Nick said he wrote the book, in part, to set the record straight. Many rumors surrounded the tragedy. Seventy miles offshore their boat overturned. All four men were in the water for a long time. Hypothermia set in. Nick spoke of the effects of hypothermia and how it damages the organs and can cause poor brain function. He told of seeing his friends die. "Devastating, heart wrenching...," were some of the words he used to dscribe the ordeal.
Nick credited Will Blakely with saving his life when he swam back under the boat to get food, life jackets, and Gatorade.
This topic was discussed for the better part of the show. Nick's dad, Stew even called in to express his support for his son and to say how painful the events have been for all the families involved.

One text was read at the close of the show:
"War Guidry back in the Jungle and war me living 10 minutes from Northville Downs and coming to meet Romey in a couple of weeks in Michigan, Emilio Textavez."

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
Today's Show Headline:
THE HACK OFF!
Sure, today's show had one more take by Jim on hockey, a burn on LeBron James, and 3 guests, but today saw the birth of...The Hack Off! It's the bad callers' answer to the Smack Off!
NHL
Rome: "...I don't know what the hell's wrong with me, but I can't stop talking hockey. NOOOOO! Not again, Rome!" He went on to discuss how Pittsburgh Penguin fans gave Buffalo Sabres' goalie Ryan Miller a standing "O" last night. It was a moment for Americans to support the members of Team USA. Jim's point was how good the Olympics are for hockey and how the NHL should make the most of it.
NBA
LeBron James is going to give up his number 23 jersey to honor Michael Jordan. Jim Rome didn't buy it. He thinks it's just a move to sell more jerseys. His new jersey will be #6. Jim wondered what about Bill Russell and Dr. J. They both wore #6. Jim even jokingly threw in Steve Garvey as a #6 wearer!
Interviews
Kevin Pritchard (GM of the Portland Trailblazers)
They discussed the injuries that have plagued Portland this year. They are still in the playoff race and Kevin mentioned their intent at the beginning of the year to focus on the depth of the team.
Of Greg Oden and his injury in December, Kevin said, "...it felt like all the air was sucked out of the building..." Also of Greg he added, "He'll do anything you ask. He works his tail off..."
Manu Ginobili (San Antonio Spurs)
He talked of his recent block of Kevin Durant. Manu said he is feeling good physically and mentally and is looking to attack the rim more. When Jim brought up the swatting of the bat in October, Manu said it wasn't a good idea. He had to get 8 rabies shots in a month's span as a result!
Shane Mosley (WBA boxing champion)
Shane came on to talk about his upcoming bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He feels he is comparable in size and speed with Floyd. They also talked about the mind games going on between Shane and Floyd. Shane said standing up to Floyd makes him "confused".
The Hack Off
In hour 2, Jim began discussing the Smack Off. Beav in Chicago E mailed and said to "cancel the Smack Off and give the title to Ray Ray in Tampa...then let Eddie in Boise and Parody Patrick duke it out in the consolation bracket".
Jim asked, "Who would win?...I've got an idea that's coming to me...How about prior to the Smack Off...you couldn't do a whole show of it...How about we come with...the Hack Off?!...get all these hacks...you get Eddie in Boise. You have Parody Patrick. You have Vinnie Mac...maybe somebody like Tobin ...who fell from the Smack Off...who has to drop down...Drop all these guys into the Hack Off bracket...maybe do it for an hour...and the winner of the Hack Off gets into the Smack Off! It's like the play-in game...Like this guy Cory...this guy, Aaron in Canton (Rick Ashley parody). You have the Hack Off...for the worst of the worst!"
E mail, text, and Facebook page reaction was resoundingly in favor of the idea.

Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley
Summary of today's Jim Rome Show
"...A very good Tuesday to you...," Jim Rome.
NBA
Jim began, "
Let me start with some NBA. If the New York Knicks really are looking to recruit the King...that's probably not the way you want to go about doing it.
Did you see that last night? That's not the way to get his attention...by laying down and having him abuse you. That's not the way to earn that guy's respect. Now, I know that you've cleaned house to get yourself ready for his arrival, but do you really expect the King to live in a palace with no furniture?
Jim also told us how former JRIB correspondent, Delonte West set up LeBron for a monster dunk, then later got his own. The "How player is that" tape was played.
NFL
Rome: "...the ultimate turn and burn league. Team's will get everything they possibly can out of you...and the second they think you lose a step or you have an incentive that they just don't want to pay, they will kick you right to the curb. Ask New York Jets runniung back Thomas Jones...and yes, I think I'm taking this harder than he is...He kills himself to get ready to go to battle every single Sunday. He's had the best year of his career...and the team thanks him by cutting him. Like I said, turn and burn."
More NBA
Michael Jordan is making a run at buying the Bobcats. Jim asked, "Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not so sure the positives out weigh the negatives..."
Phish
Jim, "I found a big name athlete whose a Phish fan...New York Ranger Sean Avery...Phish fan...Not only does Avery like Phish, he thinks they're going to ignite a playoff run."
Also, Jim quoted his friend and record executive, Andy Gershon, "...You go to the show and it's just people that have not washed in days."
This started the "Phish" discussion again. Some E mailers thought Jim was knocking the band. Jim said he wasn't. Long time E mailer "Clay in Buffalo" came out as a Phish fan, "...the problem with Phish these days is all the 'Newbs'. "
Jim, "Clay in Buffalo: Phish fan...blaming the demise of the band on the
'newbs'."
Interviews
Scott Niedermayer (Team Canada, Anaheim Ducks)
Scott admitted he is a little tired from the Olympics. He said winning the gold was more than just a relief. They enjoyed it. He said gold medals and Stanley Cup's are pretty equal in his mind, but obviously different. Scott also admitted being a little stunned and disappointed when Team USA tied it up with 24 seconds left. He told Jim, however, that from the outset, he thought Team USA was one of the better teams in the tournament.
Ryan Howard (Philadelphia Phillies)
Ryan had 45 home runs and 145 RBIs last year. He said he had a great off season, but called it "short". He has been in Tampa since early Deceer to start his training early so he didn't feel like he was in a rush to get in shape.
Ryan told Jim that Roy Halladay was a key pick up in the off season.
Jim brought up Ryan's work with "Subway". Ryan is giving training tips to Subway's Jared Fogle. Jared will be running the New York City Marathon later this year.
Gary Williams (Maryland Basketball)
He is in his 21st year at Maryland. They are ranked 22nd natinally. Gary said it's different these days..."There's a lot more good teams. They talked about the perception that his conference is down this year because North Carolina is not having as good a year as they have had in recent years.
Tomorrow, Maryland plays Duke in their "Senior Game."
Smack Off 2010
Jim began to lay out some of the new invitees to the Smack Off. He mention Ray Ray in Tampa and.....your blogger...Greg in Sun Valley.
