Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show
(note: Due to technical difficulties today's "Quotes" are paraphrased.)

Jim started off talking aout the Cleveland Browns. Brady Quinn has been benched in favor of Derrick Anderson. Rome wondered why, if Quinn is the future, he would be benched after having playing 2 1/2 games. Jim surmised coach Mangini is panicking.

E mail on the subject:  The Browns named Derrick Anderson the starting QB? That should solve all their offensive problems, signed taping plastic up in place of a broken car window.

Al Jefferson of the Minnesota Timberwolves came into camp in great shape. In fact he lost 30+ pounds. He credits eating at Subway. Sometimes he eats one footlong, sometimes two. Rome of course brought Jared of Subway commercial fame.

Rome told us of many pictures Larry Mandt (of the Larry Mandt laugh sound bite fame) has with celebrities.  Some mentioned were Maury Povich, LL Cool J, and Joe Namath (when Mandt was a kid).

Jim joked about fans thinking they can fight  NFL coaches. This led to Jim imitating the "Hoody", Bill Belichick. "Two sounds, me hitting you and you hitting the ground."

Guests

Troy Tulowitzki (Colorado Rockies)
He talked about the amazing run of the Rockies from 10 games under .500 earlier in the season to a possible wild card playoff berth and a mathematical chance to win the National League West. Troy spoke highly of coach Jim Tracy.

William Henderson ( Retired NFLer)
He played with Brett Favre, but says he bleeds Green and Yellow. He is still friends with Brett. He will text Brett's wife to see how their family is, but won't speak to Brett until after the season because Brett is playing for the Vikings.

Steve Smith (New York Giants WR)
Rome asked him about winning both a National Championship with USC and winning a Super Bowl with the Giants. Steve recognizes he was dealt a good hand, but also considers himself a winner. Steve had to leave the interview a little early to go to a team meeting but was apologetic and polite. Jim Rome appreciated that Steve still made time to honor the interview committment.
