Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of Today's Jim Rome Show

Jim started off the show talking about Delonte West again. Rome said as soon as Delonte was arrested he was getting messages on his personal E mail. Jim said he felt like he was the one who had done the deed.(carrying 3 guns). People knew how much Jim pumped up Delonte and really liked him. Rome repeated his stance on athletes carrying guns, "If you're going some place where you think you need a gun, then you shouldn't be going there at all."
Jim then re-emphasized the fact that Delonte West has battled mood disorders for years. Delonte had apparently not been on his medication and has recently missed 2 practices with the Cavaliers. Jim made known his concern for Delonte West, the individual. Jim said, "This is bad. It just sounds like he's fighting a losing battle."

DeShawn Stevenson
  The Wizards player showed up to media day with an Abe Lincoln tattoo on his neck. Speaking as if he were DeShawn, Jim said,"You know it. You know I rep #16. I'm all about 16. (the 16th President)

Antoine Winfield (Minnesots Vikings)
   He said he has never been a part of a comeback like their win over the 49ers last Sunday. He said the Vikings have confidence in Brett Favre. Rome brought up that Antoine is 5'8" and 180 pounds, yet is one of the best tacklers. He then asked Antoine if his success is due to technique or mindset and mentality. Antoine said it is due to both.

Larry Foote (Detroit Lions)
   He came to the Lions after winning a Superbowl with the Steelers. Larry is from Detroit and feels the move was good for him. Jim discussed with him the Lions first win since the 07 season.
The interview moved to Larry's college team, the Michigan Wolverines next game against Michigan State. Jim asked if that was a rivalry game and Larry said no, and that their rivalry game was against Ohio State.

Kevin Sumlin (University of Houston football coach)
   The team is 3-0 and coming off a win over Texas Tech and are ranked #12 by the AP. The school is so happy that students are showing up and cheering at weightlifting sessions.
Jim brought up the story that Kevin hired his former coach from Purdue as one of his assistants.
