Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

Chad in Portland and Gavin Dawson from the Portland affiliate guest hosted the show today.
Gavin opened with a welcome and when he went ot Chad, the sound clip from J.D. in Nashville was played..."It's Chad." Then Chad came on and greeted Gavin and the audience. Gavin  explained that he was the "radio guy" trying to "prevent Chad from really getting us fired, suspendeed, maybe fined, uh, for stuff that, you know...you're very familiar with it."
Chad responded shortly after with, "...I am the first ever clone to become E mailer, to show caller, to Smackoff participant, to show guest, and now sitting in for the "pimp in the box".

They announced that in the eleven o'clock hour they would have Magic Johnson as a guest. Then Chad will give a "State of the Jungle" address.

Most of the sports they covered was Oregon oriented.

"The Civil War"
Oregon vs Oregon State is coming up in 8 days and is for a trip to the Rose Bowl. Gavin said, "It is thee biggest football game in the history of this state.

Portland Trailblazers
Brandon Roy is the best "2" guard outside of Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade in their opinion.
Greg Oden is not a bust! Gavin took exception with clones referring to Oden as that in the past. He said, "...Dave in St. Louis...big old double bird for you today buddy, alright...Greg Oden's not a bust."

Callers

"Trapper" called. He mentioned NASCAR, Notre Dame, and..."Tramps like us".

Dave in Albany called. One of his topics was...Trapper. Addressing him, Dave said, "The Geico Caveman called. He wants his look back."

Guests

Mike Riley (Oregon State Coach)
He grew up in Corvallis. He says it's unbelievable to be coaching the Beavers. He said his team kept persevering this year and "fought back to have another great opportunity." They spoke of Oregon State having few turnovers this year. Key was Jacquizz Rodgers, who hasn't fumbled in 2 years. Mike spoke of the need for discipline and "assignment" football when defending Oregon's option offense.

Mike Bellotti (Oregon Athletic Director)
Mike was the football coach until this season. Gavin asked if he left too early since they are a win away from the Rose Bowl. Mike said other people have said that, but he feels the timing was right for the change. Mike does do color commentary for the games. He says it's "the most fun part of my job, honestly."

Michael Lombardi (National Football Post)
He was asked about Charlie Weis and the "Bellichick tree". Michael said the difference between Bill Bellichick and most of his "disciples" is the ability to evaluate. Michael doesn't feel Weis has done a great job of "selecting the talent level that comes with Notre Dame."
Chad asked what the problem is with the Denver Broncos, who have lost 4 in a row. "I think people have detected what they do offensively. They are more of a sideways offense than they are a vertical offense", Michael said.

Magic Johnson
Gavin gave a long introduction ...then the "Rick Roll" song was played. No Magic Johnson! "Yeah, like that was going to happen", they said.

State of the Jungle
Chad simply gave his opinion of other clones and their song parodies. He doesn't like them....while his produced soundbytes are "Great radio production".

  2. Hey Al!
They were trying to act as if Magic was coming on, saying things like,"Maybe he'll let bygones be bygones." I really didn't think he would come on...and he didn't. Thanks for reading!!
