Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

Jim started, "No joke. I am coming out of my shoes. Maybe it's a Friday...Maybe it's a getaway Friday. Alvin, do it! Do it now! The "Quad Yeah" clip is played...3 times!
Jim then welcomed everyone, laid out the show's guests, and gave the phone number, E mail address, and the text number.

NFL
Miami vs Carolina
The Dolphins are still in the hunt for the playoffs. Ricky Williams had a great game.
Rome's take : "This guy's incredible. His driver's license may say 32, but he's balling like he's 22...He's leading from the front and smoking fools...Guys are not supposed to change. They never do, but Ricky has. And the new Rick is about eating organic, toting the rock, and trucking dudes...I mean this sincerely : total respect."

Jimmy Kimmel Live
Marv Albert and a PR guy got into it, allegedly, with 50 Cent adn his crew backstage of the Kimmel Show.
Jim's take : "...They didn't recognize Marv...and the next thing you know obscenities and fists are flying...allegedly. He then added, "...Some of this is on Jimmy's booking staff. I mean, you can't put Marv's crew in the same room as 50's. What do you think is going to happen?...You wouldn't put JayZ in the same green room as Dick Stockton, would you? No way! Just like back in the day...there is no way you would ever book NWA the same night you have Vin Scully and his posse in the house. Someone's going to get hurt...You don't want my man, Chuck D. and Public Enemy within 50  miles of John Madden."

E mail on the subject: "Hey Rome. How about the oldest of the old school rivalries when Howard Cosell used to throw down with Grand Master Flash and the Furious 5 all by himself and not even lose his toupee."  Matt in Nashville
(This led to the next topic.)

Al Michaels
Jim replayed a clip of Al Michaels recounting being with Howard Cosell when he told there limo driver to pull over when they saw a street fight. Howard got out and approached the 2 guys fighting and the 5 that were watching and said, "Now listen here. It's quite apparent to this veteran observer that the young southpaw does not have the jab requisite to the continuation of this fray. And furthermore, his opponent is clearly a man of inferior and diminishing skills. This altercation is halted poste haste."

Next Week
As mentioned yesterdeay, Jim is off next week. Wednesday's guest host will be a man who, with his cohost, does a morning show for the Portland affiliate. This guy has called and E mailed the show often. He likes to crack on Earvin "Magic" Johnson. He is ......Chad in Portland.

Guests

Jameer Nelson (Orlando Magic)
He just had knee surgery Wednesday! He hurt that knee on Monday in a game, but it had been bothering him for a few weeks. Tonight the Magic will play the Celtics. It is an important game. In regards to last season's Finals, Jameer said he would still come back from injury a little early if he had to do it over again. This year their defense has been subpar. This has gotten coach Stan Van Gundy upset.

Charles Woodson (Green Bay Packers)
Jim said Charles was "everywhere" on Sunday against the Cowboys...blitzing, covering wide outs, covering Tight Ends, and helping out in run support. Charles likes that better than lining up on the outside, then being taken out of the game. He loves the new scheme put in by Dom Capers. Also, Charles voiced support for QB Aaron Rogers. Of his alma mater, Michigan, Woodson said he has been concerned all season about the team. He thinks coach Rich Rodriguez may need more time to see his system succeed.

Trevor Price (Baltimore Ravens)
The Ravens are 5-4. They started by discussing sacks and whether or not guys keep track of their sacks. Rome then asked, "What was with the Guitar Hero sack dance Monday night?" Trevor says he plays guitar, has been in an "awful" punk band, and plays Guitar Hero with his kids. Of Peyton Manning, Trevor said,"...He'll take a sack, now. He'll take it like a man...then he got up and threw a touchdown."
