Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

Facebook update: 54,000+ fans of Jim Rome at the start of the show.

Jim is broadcasting from Florida for Super Bowl week.

Again, Super Bowl week makes for a different type of show - heavy on interviews and football.

Opening

Jim said, "...so nothing's happening." He then reset a Super Bowl 33 story of Ray Buchanan hitting Shannon Sharpe with a "Mr. Ed" blast.  Jim went on, "...That's what we need befor a Super Bowl...It hasn't happened yet and it's not going to happen." Jim said the best we are going to get this week in the way of controversy was Peyton Manning mistakenly referring to Darren Sharper as his brother Jaime Sharper.

Interviews

Ross Tucker (Sports Illustrated)
He is a former NFLer and Princeton teammate of Kyle Brandt. Jim told us Ross is the one that introduced Kyle to Jim. Ross talked about interviewing lesser known, yet talented young players this week. He also recounted Princeton stories as Kyle joined Jim and Ross on air.

Rober Meachem (New Orleans Saints)
He said he's approaching the Super Bowl as just the next game. He felt if you make it bigger, then that's when you "start messing up and guys aren't on the same page." Robert also gave respect to the Colts' defense.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports)
Jim mentioned how hard Cris has been working this week. Cris said he stays busy and works hard because he likes his job so much. We learned that Cris' son Austin will sign with Notre Dame this week.

Takes

- Kobe Bryant gets the Lakers career scoring record from Jerry West. Jim said, "Kobe Bryant became the greatest Laker of them all last night..."

-Prop bets
Jim talked about all the obscure bets that can be made this week in relation to the game.

-KB's Workout Regimen
Jim told us Kyle's personal trainer has E mailed Kyle his workouts for the week. Jim also said Kyle wasn't adhering to them when he saw him in the hotel gym.

More Interviews

Conrad Dobler (NFL Great)
Jim told us how Conrad was named the NFL's dirtiest player by Sports Illustrated in 1977. Conrad had had numerous surgeries on his knee and is calling on the NFL to help out retired players. He also told us the Dr's wanted to amputate part of his leg. Conrad wants to try one more surgery first. He said he didn't want to change his name to "Eileen" or hang out at IHOP.

Kurt Warner (Newly Retired NFL QB)
Kurt said it felt strange to hear himself referred to as retired. He said it would probably hit him when training camp starts. He also talked about his career. He was thankful and proud to have taken two different teams to the Super Bowl.
