Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Notes on clones in today's show

First E mail of the year

Jim mentioned today about how there would be talk about the "firsts" of the year. When he went to the E mails in the first segment, he said Blaise in KC sent in a bad one and it wouldn't be the first of the year.  He then read it: (paraphrased) "...You hit a mountain? I hit a house. Signed, Billy Joel." Rome then said he didn't read that. He was just showing why it wasn't good! He then gave credit to one about "Gym guy" being "P.O.'d" that the gym will be packed for two weeks at the beginning of the year with all those that made new years resolutions as being the first E mail of the year.

Later, after comments on the Big Ten going 0-5 in Bowl games and Richard Rodriguez of Michigan being on the coaches "hot seat", Jim asked, "Would you take an E mail from Dave in St. Louis?" Dave wrote in saying he wanted to "lift Rich Rod up......Up over my head and throw him in a dumpster."

Howie Long

The former NFLer came on and did a well received interview. An E mail came in congratulating J. Stew for landing the interview, and urged him to "give himself another mole" for that.

First Call of the Year

Gert in Tampa
She got on last week with a guest hosts who was taking calls looking for potential Smack Off or Hack Off candidates. Today, she said she thinks the wrong coach from the Penn State/Florida bowl game is retiring. Gert also cracked on Brett Favre with a "pants on the floor" blast, followed by a "Yeah, I said it!"

Her call was followed by an E mail from Bryan in Syracuse: "Dear Jim, Gert has replaced me as the best female caller. Signed, Rosemary." Rome was a bit miffed. He said, "...predictable...Gert is a woman. Rosemary is a moron..." He then ceremonially crumpled up the paper the E mail was supposedly written down on.

Caller

Adam in Denver
He got on with a take on Tim Tebow. Adam likes Tebow's intensity and hustle. He was impressed with how Tebow played hard regardless of the score or time on the clock.

Other  E mailers

-Jordan in Madison got in with a reference to Jim's long ago appearance on America's Funniest Home Videos. Apparently it runs in syndication and a website ran a story about it.

-Chris in St. Petersburg got in with a GED blast about how the Seattle Seahawks proved "Losers can be winners".

Text Contest Selections

"War 'Weigh Stew' for putting Gert through..."

Triple U Sponsor: "...'Haven't seen you since last year' guy."

Triple U: (paraphrased) "Whoa!...Gators? I thought they said taters!...Chuck Weis."
