Rome, it's time to schedule a second Chael Sonnen interview! That's about as close as you can get to fully backing up one's smack talk. Chael Sonnen mauled the pound for pound #1 MMA fighter in the world, Anderson Silva, for nearly 24 of the 25 minute fight. In each of the first four rounds, Chael was able to take down Silva and keep him there with a smothering ground and pound. However, with just over a minute left in the fight, Silva got Sonnen in a triangle choke. While maneuvering out of that, Sonnen left his arm out to be put in an arm bar by Silva, where Sonnen was forced to tap out.
While I thought Chael's comments about Lance Armstrong were ill conceived, unnecessary, and irrelevant to Sonnen's MMA career, I was shocked at how he was able to back up most of his talk about taking the fight to Anderson Silva and dominate the way he did until the ill fated final two minutes of the fight.
