Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

"...A very good Tuesday to you...," Jim Rome.

NBA

Jim began, "
Let me start with some NBA. If the New York Knicks really are looking to recruit the King...that's probably not the way you want to go about doing it.

Did you see that last night? That's not the way to get his attention...by laying down and having him abuse you. That's not the way to earn that guy's respect. Now, I know that you've cleaned house to get yourself ready for his arrival, but do you really expect the King to live in a palace with no furniture?

Jim also told us how former JRIB correspondent, Delonte West set up LeBron for a monster dunk, then later got his own. The "How player is that" tape was played.

NFL

Rome: "...the ultimate turn and burn league. Team's will get everything they possibly can out of you...and the second they think you lose a step or you have an incentive that they just don't want to pay, they will kick you right to the curb. Ask New York Jets runniung back Thomas Jones...and yes, I think I'm taking this harder than he is...He kills himself to get ready to go to battle every single Sunday. He's had the best year of his career...and the team thanks him by cutting him. Like I said, turn and burn."

More NBA

Michael Jordan is making a run at buying the Bobcats. Jim asked, "Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I'm not so sure the positives out weigh the negatives..."

Phish

Jim, "I found a big name athlete whose a Phish fan...New York Ranger Sean Avery...Phish fan...Not only does Avery like Phish, he thinks they're going to ignite a playoff run."
Also, Jim quoted his friend and record executive, Andy Gershon, "...You go to the show and it's just people that have not washed in days."

This started the "Phish" discussion again. Some E mailers thought Jim was knocking the band. Jim said he wasn't. Long time E mailer "Clay in Buffalo" came out as a Phish fan, "...the problem with Phish these   days is all the 'Newbs'. "
Jim, "Clay in Buffalo: Phish fan...blaming the demise of the band on the
'newbs'."

Interviews

Scott Niedermayer (Team Canada, Anaheim Ducks)
Scott admitted he is a little tired from the Olympics. He said winning the gold was more than just a relief. They enjoyed it. He said gold medals and Stanley Cup's are pretty equal in his mind, but obviously different. Scott also admitted being a little stunned and disappointed when Team USA tied it up with 24 seconds left. He told Jim, however, that from the outset, he thought Team USA  was one of the better teams in the tournament.

Ryan Howard (Philadelphia Phillies)
Ryan had 45 home runs and 145 RBIs last year. He said he had a great off season, but called it "short". He has been in Tampa since early Deceer to start his training early so he didn't feel like he was in a rush to get in shape.
Ryan told Jim that Roy Halladay was a key pick up in the off season.
Jim brought up Ryan's work with "Subway". Ryan is giving training tips to Subway's Jared Fogle. Jared will be running the New York City Marathon later this year.

Gary Williams (Maryland Basketball)
He is in his 21st year at Maryland. They are ranked 22nd natinally. Gary said it's different these days..."There's a lot more good teams. They talked about the perception that his conference is down this year because North Carolina is not having as good a year as they have had in recent years.
Tomorrow, Maryland plays Duke in their "Senior Game."
