                     THE HACK OFF!

Sure, today's show had one more take by Jim on hockey, a burn on LeBron James, and 3 guests, but today saw the birth of...The Hack Off! It's the bad callers' answer to the Smack Off!


NHL

Rome: "...I don't know what the hell's wrong with me, but I can't stop talking hockey. NOOOOO! Not again, Rome!"  He went on to discuss how Pittsburgh Penguin fans gave Buffalo Sabres' goalie Ryan Miller a standing "O" last night. It was a moment for Americans to support the members of Team USA. Jim's point was how good the Olympics are for hockey and how the NHL should make the most of it.

NBA

LeBron James is going to give up his number 23 jersey to honor Michael Jordan. Jim Rome didn't buy it. He thinks it's just a move to sell more jerseys. His new jersey will be #6. Jim wondered what about Bill Russell and Dr. J. They both wore #6. Jim even jokingly threw in Steve Garvey as a #6 wearer!

Interviews

Kevin Pritchard (GM of the Portland Trailblazers)
   They discussed the injuries that have plagued Portland this year. They are still in the playoff race and Kevin mentioned their intent at the beginning of the year to focus on the depth of the team.
Of Greg Oden and his injury in December, Kevin said, "...it felt like all the air was sucked out of the building..." Also of Greg he added, "He'll do anything you ask. He works his tail off..."

Manu Ginobili (San Antonio Spurs)
   He talked of his recent block of Kevin Durant. Manu said he is feeling good physically and mentally and is looking to attack the rim more. When Jim brought up the swatting of the bat in October, Manu said it wasn't a good idea. He had to get 8 rabies shots in a month's span as a result!

Shane Mosley (WBA boxing champion)
   Shane came on to talk about his upcoming bout with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He feels he is comparable in size and speed with Floyd. They also talked about the mind games going on between Shane and Floyd. Shane said standing up to Floyd makes him "confused".

The Hack Off

In hour 2, Jim began discussing the Smack Off. Beav in Chicago E mailed and said to "cancel the Smack Off and give the title to Ray Ray in Tampa...then let Eddie in Boise and Parody Patrick duke it out in the consolation bracket".
Jim asked, "Who would win?...I've got an idea that's coming to me...How about prior to the Smack Off...you couldn't do a whole show of it...How about we come with...the Hack Off?!...get all these hacks...you get Eddie in Boise. You have Parody Patrick. You have Vinnie Mac...maybe somebody like Tobin ...who fell from the Smack Off...who has to drop down...Drop all these guys into the Hack Off bracket...maybe do it for an hour...and the winner of the Hack Off gets into the Smack Off! It's like the play-in game...Like this guy Cory...this guy, Aaron in Canton (Rick Ashley parody). You have the Hack Off...for the worst of the worst!"
