Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of Today's Jim Rome Show

In the opening, Jim told of today's interview's and of getting to the story of J. Stew singing karaoke over the weekend. Jim has the audio!

NBA

Lakers vs Magic

Rome: "...Let me start first with the Lakers-Magic game yesterday. Pretty nice game. That game may have looked and felt like game 7 of the NBA finals and judging from some of the reaction...a number of you seem to think that the Lakers are completely unravelling...to quote my man Chris Johnson, 'C'mon son!' ...The Lakers season is not imploding any more than the Magic got revenge yesterday with that win...C'mon Son! What are you going to tell me next? That the Magic now are the team to beat because they have an alleged 'Kobe Stopper' in Matt Baners?..."

Jim went on to talk about Matt Barnes trash talking and "ball faking" to Kobe's face. Jim said the Lakers were fine even if Pau Gasol doesn't think so. He compared Pau's comments to the famous hockey quote, "...I can't get my 60 goals!"

Ron Artest's hair

He sported a new "do". Jim said, "...That's not some cheap pub grab. That's not a 'look at me' dye job. That's Artest looking to kick start his 'inner Ron Ron'."

Tim Tebow

Tebow is charging $160 for an autograph. A portion of the proceeds go to his foundation. Nevertheless, Rome was surprised Tebow was charging that. Jim asked what the percentage was that was going to his foundation. He was also surprised that 1500 people paid that amount!

E Mail

"Hey Rome. Stop whatever you're doing and play the karaoke. Tell Curry and Goodman they'll need to reschedule. Forget the Lakers and Magic. Play the karaoke." TC in Portland

Another E mailer said, "...Don't turn this into a 'Vinny Mac style' waiting game."

J. Stew sings!

J. Stew and Kyle Brandt went out with their girlfriends and ended up singing karaoke. Rome said J. Stew messed up the video of Kyle singing but Kyle successfully recorded J. Stew. He sang "Better Man" by Pearl Jam. Jim played Eddie Vedder singing first then played J. Stew's version.
Rome: "...But that 2nd one...was that Vedder sounding like Elvis or was that J. Stew with some sort of 'goat thing'?...what is that?...baaaaa."

Interviews

Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors)
He is a rookie point guard and a former NCAA All American. He told Jim that the NBA is "exactly what I thought it would be...since I was around it with my dad." (Dell Curry). Stephen said the season was not as he thought it would be because of all the injuries the Warriors have had. Jim brought up Stephen's brother, Seth, who is at Duke as a redshirt. Stephen is expecting good things from him next year at Duke.

Jeff Goodman (FOXSPORTS.com)
He came on to talk NCAA Basketball. He thinks the four number one seeds in the NCAA Tournament will most likely be Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, and Duke. Jim asked Jeff's opinion on the possibility of expanding the tournament. Jeff doesn't like the idea but thinks it will eventually happen. Jeff's Player of the Year choice is Evan Turner of Ohio State.

Text Contest

"Unwar the applause during the dead celebrity montage at the Oscar's. Save it for the end..."  Dan in Dana Point

"Hey Jim. You don't know what you're talking about. I thought J. Stew did a great job. With warmest regards, Steve Smith."

Triple U sponsor: "St. Pat's guy. The loser who takes two days off...one day so he can get blasted before noon drinking green beer and one day so he can lay in bed." Lance

Actual Triple U: "Dear Jim, can't wait to see J. Stew covering the legendary Led Zepplin  album, 'Houses of the Moley'."

Result: "That's the epitome of a triple U...To be fair, Phil, that whole contest was a triple U..."
