Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

Jim is back in studio!

NFL
   Dallas Cowboys
   Rome,"...No matter what's going on, it's always about the Cowboys. Isn't it? ...this year. They're different...tougher, more resiliant, better chemistry...they're nasty, andy can grind, and most of all..they clutched up. They made the plays they needed to make to win a tough game. That's not something you could say about them in years past."

Green Bay Packers
   Jim said, "Quick memo to the Green Bay Packers, "Uh Oh!...Not being able to handle the 'old gunslinger' is one thing. Not being able to handle Josh Freeman is another."

DeAngelo Hall
   He got into it with Falcons Coach Mike Smith. He filed a complaint with Commissioner Roger Goodell because he said Mike Smith cussed him out. Yet, he is also saying, "...if you want to finish this, you know where to find me." Rome's take: "Are you going to beat his head in or are you going to tattle on him?...Which one is it?"

Chargers
   Jim said, "Show me your lightning bolt! Aren't they dead? Didn't we all bury them a few weeks back? What a great win that was on the road."

MMA
   Fedor knocks out Brett Rogers on Saturday. Jim's take :"Rogers looked like he was in a coma. I don't want to hear about the 'quick stoppage'."

Andre Agassi
   He went on 60 Minutes over the weekend. Jim commented, "...What a master performanace...He's good. the guy is so engaging and charismatic and seemingly so sincere. He might be..."
People, his peers amongst them are asking why write that book? Why now? Rome agreed that Andre's admitted meth use was a performance inhibitor rather than an enhancer. The questions were: Is it a cash grab? Is it a publicity grab? Is it carthartic?  This was a big topic today.

Zenyatta
   The philly won the Breeders Classic against the boys with an amazing finish. Jim commented, "...and by finishing the race the was she did, she gave that sport a shot of adrenaline, and race fans a once in a generation moment...Honestly, it was incredible."

Mike Smith (Jockey of Zenyatta)
   His great respect for Zenyatta went to another level after that race. He was a little concerned at the start of the race. The horse broke (started) with her left lead when she needed to be on her right. After he got her to her right he was confident she would run her race. It chokes Mike up to know that might have been her last race.

John Feinstein
   He was shocked that tennis officials did nothing when Andre Agassi tested positive for meth. They simply accepted his explanation. John said the book will be a short term hit to Andre's image. Of "tanking" matches, John said Agassi is not the only tennis player to do that.
