Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

[Note: I am on another roadie. I travelled north from the LA, California area and listened to the show on first the Bakersfield affiliate, then the Visalia affiate, and finally the Fresno affiliate, 1340am. The signal died around 11:30am Pacific. My apologies for missing the Text Contest (if there was one). Also, many of the quotes are paraphrased.]

Summary of Friday's Jim Rome Show

Jim started off with a "Quad Yeah!", then asked engineer, Alvin Delloro, to make it an "Ocho Yeah!" (the sound clip played twice). Then, "Can I get a 12?!" He continued, "I'm feeling it. Zero Tolerance Friday. Come strong."

Thursday NFL game
   49ers vs Bears
Jay Cutler consistently "found the open man. The DB, the Safety, the D-lineman.....What a freaking disaster."
Jim then commented that maybe Denver Broncos coach, Josh McDaniels, was right. At least Kyle Orton protects the ball. The phrase "reserve the right to kick" (in the red zone) came up. Finally, Jim said, "Where is Rex Grossman when you need him?"

NBA
Miami Heat
Jim commented on a monster dunk by Dwayne Wade in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He said, "There's dunking on a guy.  Then there's that!" Also, Lebron James was quoted, "...probably a top 10 dunk of all time."

LA Lakers
The Lakers are off to a good start. Rome thinks they look better than last years Championship team even with Pau Gasol injured. He said, "Time to give the Lakers some 'bleeping' credit." (Referencing a Phil Jackson quote from last year.) Jim gave a lot of credit to the play of Andrew Bynum.

College Football
Tennessee Volunteers
Rome said coach Lane Kiffin had told recruits that players that go to South Carolina end up working at gas stations. Rome added, "Well, players at Tennessee rob guys at gas stations." Three Tennessee players were accused of doing just that. Interestingly, the victim of the crime wants the players to still be able to play for the team. He is quoted, "That's Tennessee. That's the way it is sometimes." His name is Cory Zickefoose and Rome made him a member of the Sapphire club for this! Rome said, however, that "Lane Kiffin will come down hard on the players involved. He has to."

Callers

Jeff in Richmond
Yes, thee Jeff in Richmond made his triumphant return to the Jungle! Jim reset who Jeff was and said he had been away for a while, probably attending to his "10 Acre Estate".
Jeff came on and cracked on recent callers and especially "softball Canada Clones", saying, "Step yo game up!" He cracked on "Trapp ERRR! Then he told us he had an "Elite wrestling and MMA backround". We were then warned to "Never...and I mean EVER!!! disrespect a UFC fighter.

Trapper
He called in and referenced "30 pieces of silver" and signed out with "Tramps like us."

An E mailer wrote in saying that Trapper's voice was shaking and he was either on a Shiatsu massager or "That was Katherine Hepburn calling in pretending to be Trapper."

Guests

Gary Patterson (TCU Football Coach)
They are undefeated and ranked #4 in the country. Gary said the upcoming game with Utah is probably the biggest home game in 25 years. He told us the players have handled the situation and scrutiny of being undefeated well. They had a tough loss last year to Utah, 13-10. Gary feels that experience will help them in this years game. Jim brought up Gary's small town upbringing. He comes from a town of 175 people. He said, "A lot of great people come from small towns."

Gina Gershon (Actress)
She is the star of the TV miniseries "Everything She Ever Wanted" that J. Stew has a part in. It is about an "out of control murdering sexpot" according to Rome. Gina said it was an interesting role. It is based on a true story. When portraying real life people, Gina said she likes to meet the person.  In  this case, it  was  not done. The subject was still in jail at the time of shooting the movie.
Jim asked "thee" question: "How does J. Stew compare to some of the other stars that Gina has worked with? Gina said J. Stew was somewhere between Stallone and Tom Cruise.
Jim also reset producer Stan Brooks coming on the Jim Rome Show a few months back to redo the audio of J. Stew's lines, saying the original takes were not loud enough. Gina said, "I think he should have left well enough alone.....I'm going to have to have a word with Stan about that."

Parody Video

I made this video in anticipation of today's interview with Gina Gershon
