Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Today on the Show

"Can I get a "quad yeah" for a Friday?" ...And so started Friday's show. Jim Rome asked J. Stew how many Twitter followers he lost last night. Then he hit J. Stew with,"Stew, what the hell happened to your lettuce today man? Do you not have product? What's going on? ...J. Stew, no product for his hair, but up to 2679. Adding (Twitter) followers overnight."

1st topic
Steelers vs Titans last night. It was the first regular season game of the year. Though not high scoring, Jim said the game was not boring. The Steelers coach was quoted as saying,"The more violent team usually wins." Rome,"Violence does pay. And so does having a cold blooded quarterback who clutches up like Ben Roethlisberger.

Monday
Jim willl not host the show on  Monday (9/14/09). He has Jungle business to attend to. Tony Rizzo from WKNR in Cleveland will fill in for Jim.

The "Mix"
"Alvin's Mix" was played at 1 1/2 speed after a "war" of it in an E mail. Recent additions to the mix were clips from the 2009 Smack Off.

USC vs OSU
The game is still a hot topic in the Jungle. Jim's pick: USC by about 7

The Week that Was
A compilation of clips from the show this week was played as it is every Friday.

Guests

Michael Lombardi (National Football Post)
Asked about potential Steelers problems, he said they looked like the team that won the Super Bowl. They have offensive deficiencies but great defense and the ability to make plays when needed. Asked about Eric Mangini's keeping of the Brown's quarterback choice secret, he said it was "...the most childish act I've seen in 20 years."

Brian Cushing (Texans LB, out of USC)
Topics were USC vs OSU and his first NFL game. Brian said USC is confident going into all big games. He thinks QB Matt Barkley is "the real deal." Jim asked Brian if given the chance would he hit former USC teammate Mark Sanchez in a game.  His response,"4 years of him wearing the yellow jersey in practice...If I get my opportunity, I'm taking it."

Malcolm Jenkins (New Orleans Saints, out of Ohio State)
He, too, was asked about the USC vs OSU game and his NFL debut. He said he realizes USC has future NFL caliber players and that OSU needs to go after USC's weak links. He said he would probably be used mostly on special teams to begin with for the Saints.

E mail

"Hey Jim, I don't always drink apple juice, but when I do, I prefer Motts, signed Melvin, the most interesting kid in the world." Jere in Denver
(Rome liked this E mail so much that he gave Jere a "BLOCK chip". (like a get out of jail free card when BLOCKED. This had never been done before.)

Text Contest

"Hey Rome, 14 grand? Was that the bar tab? Signed J.D." Ted in San Carlos
"Rome, what's the tip on a 32GR (grand) dinner? 5 bucks? Signed No Tippin' Pippen." D in H Town

Triple U Sponsor: "The drunk dude at a game that when you team scores, automatically turns around and goes for a high five like you're best friends."

Actual Triple U: "Hey Jim, did you say you're off Monday? So are we and Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday. You get the point? Signed Detroit."

Response: Jim said,"No, what's your point? Here's your point...You're BLOCKED!"
