Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

Bickley and MJ from Phoenix guest hosted the show today. Dan Bickley is a sports columnist for the Arizonia Republic, a radio host, and an author. Mike Jurecki is an NFL insider who covers the Arizona Cardinals and a radio host.
The guys said they like talking football, and they did a lot of that.

First topic was the NY Jets. They called the Jets "the talk of the NFL."  Coach Rex Ryan was, of course, discussed. They talked about his brash confidence and his emphasis on tough and tenacious defense and the similar outlook of his father, Buddy Ryan. The guys also brought up Mark Sanchez. They referenced his preseason photo shoot, inferring he is a little flashy like former NY Jets QB, Joe Namath.  The Jets win over the Patriots on Sunday was talked about and the guys said that Mark Sanchez out played Tom Brady.

Further football subjects:
Arizona Cardinal's WR Larry Fitzgrald's brother Twittering comments about QB Kurt Warner and saying his brothrer (Larry) was unhappy about how many touches he has been getting.

The direction certain teams may be headed after 2 games.

Guests

Kurt Warner (Arizona Cardinals QB)
Bickley and MJ brought up Kurts's 24 of 26 record setting passing performance last game. Kurt down played the performance some, saying a lot of things came together and many other QB's would have been able to make those same passes. The questions about Kurt's age came up. Kurt said, "I'm  AM old!" He was good natured about it. The Fitzgerald's brother Tweeting issue was addressed. Kurt said he's love to get the ball to his top two receivers on every time, but wouldn't force the ball into double coverages just to make that happen.  Kurt mentioned teams keying on Larry and the need to do what is necessary to win.

Frank Caliendo (Comedian and impressionist)

(Commentary) : This interview had yours truly captivated. Many know of Frank's most famous impression, John Madden. That, of courst, is great. He also did George W. Bush, Charles Barkely, Al Pacino, Shaq, Dr. Phil, and Robin Williams on the show today. However, he did 2 segments of the show as...Jim Rome.(Intermingled with the other impressions.)  He came on as Jim, asking Bickley and MJ what they were doing and jabbing them a little. He basically ran the 2 segments as Jim Rome. It was hilarious! I did not think I would laugh this much when Jim was on vacation. Frank knew of faxes being old school. He read ficticious E mails and read off the "names" of those that "sent" them in. It appears he either studies or likes the show.

Charles Barkley
Charles came on saying he loves this time of year. He said he loves football and boxing. He said he played football only 1 day. They put him on the defensive line and it wasn't fun. If you know Charles you know he said this in a very funny way. At the recent Basketball Hall of Fame induction Charles inducted Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan. Barkley said he was shocked when Jerry asked him to do the honors. Charles said sincerely that it was on of the highlights of his life. Regarding Michael Jordan's speech, Barkley said that it didn't seem too controversial being there to hear it. He said he went back later and watched a tape and could then understand how some people could be upset. He did call Michael "the most competitive person he's ever met". Later in the interview, Charles rated the top 5 NBA teams as the Lakers, the Spurs, the Celtics, the Cavaliers, and the Magic. At the end, he talked some boxing.
