Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

John Feinstein guest hosted the show today while Jim is on vacation.
John said it has been a long time since he has hosted the show. The last time he was scheduled he had to have heart bypass surgery. He is doing much better now.
Topics,

USC's loss to Washington
Though USC has recently made a habit to losing early in the season to a conference opponent, John was surprised that it was Washington this year. The Huskies were winless last year.

The NFL
John sees panic setting in for certain teams that are 0-2 after week two. He said, "They're panicked , I guarantee you, in Carolina...They're panicked in Tennessee...They're panicked in Jacksonville." These are teams that were good last year and were thought to be good this year. (They may yet turn out to be.) Feinstein later said that a loss in the NFL is like a 10 game losing streak in baseball since there are only 16 games in the regular season.

Michael Jordan
John weighed in with his opinion on the Michael Jordan Hall of Fame speech. John felt the speech was "graceless". He stated he doesn't feel Jordan is a bad guy, but rather an unhappy guy. (During this take another shows audio started to come across the Jungle airwaves. I assume that back in LA the first thought was to hit "The Mix" button because "The Mix" began to play a second or two later. It did not get as far as the part where John Feinstein is heard yelling at his daughter, "Bridgette, Bridgette!" before the correct audio was restored.)

Guests

Tom Watson (Legendary Golfer)
Tom recalled the 1993 Ryder Cup USA win. John asked him about the Open this year and nearly winning at 59 years old. They concluded by talking about ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).  Tom's caddy was stricken with ALS and died in 2004. Tom has a tournament to raise money for ALS research.

Joe Buck (FOX Sports)
John called Joe the best play by play man in the business. They reminsced about their dads. John asked Joe about his upcoming 2nd edition of his periodic show, Joe Buck Live. Joe said, "You mean the Artie Lange Show?" Joe was humorous about the 1st edition of the show a few months back.

Richard Justice (Houston Chronicle)
When asked, Richard said he would vote for Mark Teixeira for AL MVP at this point. They eventually got into Houston sports.  The Texans: Richard felt they didn't show up in week 1 against the Jets, but were determined in their win against the Titans.  The Rockets: Yao comes in everday with his foot in a cast but does his rehab and takes shots from a chair. There is only a 5% chance he may play this season. The number rises to 55% for next year. Tracy McGrady has worked hard but seems to favor his knee still. Justice said the ideal scenario was a mid season aquisition of Chris Bosh.
