Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Summary of Today's Jim Rome Show

Tony Rizzo guest hosted the show today. He hosts a show on the Cleveland affiliate, WKNR, that comes on before The Jungle. Tony has two sidekicks, Aaron and Josh. In the open Tony made a point to tell the audience that he is not a "newbie". He knows the show and specifically requested Jungle "legends" to call in today.
J. Stew's appearance on last night's season premiere of "Gary Unmarried" on CBS came up quickly. The guys liked J. Stew's performance and congratulated him on it. J.Stew came on air to discuss it. Jason gave many props and thanks to everyone on the set and show. Soon we began to hear about the "spread" or the food for the cast and crew. Jason loved it.  Texts and E mails came in regarding the job the make up artists for the show did to disguise J.Stew's moles, as well J. Stew's size.
Also, J.Stew complimented Tony, Aaron, and Josh for having "energy".

Other Topics:

Michael Crabtree still unsigned by the 49ers. Rizzo said he thinks Crabtree is making a bad decision.

Lebron James. Tony said he was on a whirlwind tour. He was surprised by Lebron's appearance on "The View". During that discussion a sound effect of the "original buzzer" followed by a game show audience sad "OOhhh" exhalation. This sound effect began to show up repeatedly throughout the show. So much so that an E mail came in saying it was being overused.

Lamar Odom is having a bachelor party.

A Russian "Nickel Baron" billionaire is buying the New Jersey Nets.

The PGA's tour championship is confusing and complicated according to Rizzo. He said people remember Majors' winners.

Guests

Chris Rose (Fox Sports)
After hearing the guys discuss Broadway plays earlier, Chris came on saying he and his wife walked out of "Cats" it was so bad. When asked about the Browns', Chris said, "Has the season started?" They then all debated whether the Browns owner was a good owner or not.  Chris went on to say that if coach Mangini doesn't have success in a few years the owner should sell the team if he cares about the fan base and the city of Cleveland.

Bernie Kosar (Former Browns QB)
Bernie started off saying he was one of the Cleveland clones waiting for Jim when Jim went to Cleveland
recently.  He was quickly asked about the University of Miami football teams great start this year. Bernie cited Jacory Harris' recent stats of throwing 5 TD's to 5 different receivers. Kosar called Harris the leader of the team.Asked about the BCS, Kosar said he would prefer to see a playoff to determine a National Champion. Of the Cleveland Browns, Kosar said they don't appear to have any big playmakers.

Text Contest

"Dear Rizz, I hate going to see plays and I love the Brown(ies), but I bet watching "Cats" would be better than what we're watching on Sundays here in Cleveland." Steve

"Dear Rizz, Fantasy golf is for nerds man, Signed fantasy bowling guy." Billy

Triple U sponsor: "Autographs"

Actual Triple U: "Hey Rizz, we call ourselves nickel miners, too. Signed "Bums" Chris in Syracuse

Result: "Chris in Syracuse, you are BLOCKED!" (First BLOCK by a substitute host that I know of.)

Huge Call of the Day

  1. i thought the guys from c-town and phoenix were awesome. what was ironic about that "chris in syracuse" being blocked is that a very nerdy sounding guy dubbed "chris in syracuse" calls the dan patrick show like 4-5 times a week.
