Today on the Jim Rome Radio Show aka The Jungle

Surprise! Jim Rome is in today. The business trip he was planning today was cancelled. Tony Rizzo, who was going to guest host today will be in next week...when Jim is on vacation. Rome said,"Yes clones, another vacation. The reason I take so much vacation is because I get so much vacation." He pointed out, however, that he gets 7 weeks a year but only takes 6 weeks.

1st topic
   USC vs Ohio State
USC wins a close game. Rome referenced the fact that last week he said,"Pete Carroll doesn't lose big games. He might lose some little ones, but not big ones. And Ohio State doesn't win big games." Jim went on,"...at least you didn't get humiliated, Buckeye fan." Also, the play of Matt Barkley and Terrell Pryor were discussed.

Michigan vs Notre Dame
   Jim spoke briefly on Michigans win and that they apparently have a quarterback in Tate Forcier.

Tennessee loses to UCLA and has Florida next week. "Uh Oh!"

Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame induction speech.
  MJ was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. In his speech he brought up several incidences when he was disrespected or slighted. He even flew in the high school teammate that was picked over him when he (Jordan) was a sophomore just to tell his high school coach he was wrong. Jim spoke about it at length. One quote from Rome,"He didn't talk about the people who helped him. He talked about the people who doogged him That's why that speech wasn't very good."

Mike Smith (Atlanta Falcons head coach)
   Rome brought up the teams defense. Smith said they played hard and showed a lot of effort in their win Sunday but he saw areas for improvement. Jim brought up last years unexpected success and Smith liked that his team was confident coming into the year but noted that success can breed complacency. A phrase Smith has been using is "Humble and hungry".

Adrian Wojharowski (Yahoo Sports)
   He came on to talk about his column on Michael Jordan's speech. Rome asked what his first reaction was. "I was stunned. A lot of people were taken aback. It was the wrong venue for airing old grievances and grudges with Jerry Krause and Jeff Van Gundy...and what he did to his high school teammate..."

Taylor Mays (USC safety)
   He spoke about the tough environment the stadium at Ohio State proved to be. Also, he talked about the offense struggling and feeling that the defense had to step up. Rome asked him what he thought when he found out "that the keys to the car been given to a true freshman." (at quarterback) Mays said,"I think I had the keys and he rides in the back." Later he added,"...in the car seat." (In good humor)
