Jim Rome Clone Report by Greg in Sun Valley

Parody video of Trappers latest call

Summary of today's Jim Rome Show

It's Friday. Jim asked for a "Quad Yeah!", and the famous sound clip was played.

BCS Championship Game

Rome: "I don't know that I've ever seen a more disjointed, bizarre start to a National Championship game, or almost any big game, than what shook down in Pasadena last night...the most over the top call of Nick Sabans career...that desperate deek job of a fake punt deep in his own end at the start of the game...Like he was a 4 TD underdog or something...Then Colt McCoy took that routine hit ...and he comes off the field one flap down...That was the most jacked up first stanza in a big game I have ever seen..."

Alabama had that big halftime lead, and Jim commented, "You could see where Alabama was more relieved than they were actually estatic when that game finally did come to an end. Of course they let the Longhorns back in the game. The Tide thought that game was already over...24-6. Thanks for coming. Drive safely. Of course Alabama thought the game was over, because it was."

The discussion continued:
Jim said of Alabama, "That's their ring. They earned it..but. There well always be a 'yeah, but' attached to this one. Because McCoy didn't go...I'm not saying that Texas wins if he does play..."

Jim also covered:

-Nick Saban's Gatorade shower and his reaction.

-The decision to keep Colt McCoy out of the game.

Interview

Calvin Pace (New York Jets)
He led the Jets with 8 sacks this year. He is in his 7th year, and this is his first time in the playoffs. "It feels great...This playoff sure means a lot to me," he said. He agreed that losing and not making the playoffs can begin to wear on a person. A year after he left the Cardinals they made it to the Super Bowl.
Jim asked Calvin about coach Rex Ryan. Calvin said when Rex says something like, "...Long shot? I think we're the favorite...I mean to win the whole tournament," it pumps them up. Of QB Mark Sanchez being up to making plays in the playoffs, Calvin said, "He better be ready for it."

MMA
Leading up to the interview with Urijah Faber, the MMA vs Boxing argument came up as it always does.

Interview

Urijah Faber (MMA fighter)
He has not fought in 7 months. In his last fight, with Mike Brown he broke his hand in the 1st round and dislocated his thumb on his other hand in the 3rd round. Of the rehab, he said, "It wasn't fun. That's for sure...talk about being frustrated." They spoke about Urijah finishing that fight with those injuries.
Jim told Urijah of the MMA detractors E mailing the show and read one of them. Urijah responded, "Man, that's just some real ignorance...I think that person need to kind of delve a little bit deeper, and it's unfortunate that they think that.

The Week That Was

The traditional montage of sound clips from throughout the week was played.

Text Contest Selections

"War 'Style' Grant on the next 'Bachelor'."

"Hey Rome. I heard you say that Mark Ingram gave a Heisman speech that had a lot of emotion. What are these emotions you speak of? Sincerely, Nick Saban."

"Hey Rome.It does not surprise me that Al Davis snubbed Rich Gannon. I've been snubbing Al for years. Signed, Death..."

Triple U sponsor: "People who still pay for their gas with cash."

Actual Triple U: "Hey Jim. Oregon's gloves have 'O' on them. Well, so do mine. O negative. Signed, Orenthal."

Result: "As Orenthal texts go that's not horrible...could be worse."
