First off, Jim Rome said,"Go easy on J. Stew. He's taking the calls AND screening the texts and is coming off shooting another episode of Gary Unmarried."

   In the news because they are upset that they will not be starting off their season against Ohio State as they thought. Instead Coaches vs Cancer tournament organizers have put them up against defending National Champs, North Carolina.  FIU is threatening not to show up, saying they had a contract to play Ohio State.
Rome's take: "...you will go to Chapel Hill and hope Roy Williams calls off the dogs early on and you keep it within 70. And in return for your efforts you're going to get some national pub in exchange for getting your teeth kicked in."

Mark Sanchez was named starting QB for the Jets for the season opener.

Ted Kennedy passed away. Jim said he would comment but not read clone comments about it.

Cleveland

Jim Rome will broadcast tomorrow's show from the studios of his affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio. He and Kyle Brandt will attend a listener after party.
E mailers hit it hard with warnings and checklists for Jim during his C-Town visit.

Nick in Houston glossed himself "Iceman" and got run in 6 seconds.

comment: I guess he hasn't been a long time listener. J. Stew used to encourage guys to gloss themselves just so Jim would run them. I like the original buzzer on that kind of run!

Randy Couture (former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight Champ)

   -Has a fight Saturday against Antonio Noguiera, ju jitsu specialist. Randy spoke of preparing for the fight to go the distance and for all eventualities, especially the fight going to the ground. He has been working hard in camp on his Ju Jitsu. Jim Rome brought up Randy's son, 27, having an MMA match last week. Randy let us know he won and Randy is proud of him.
   Jim asked Randy if he had Brock Lesnar in the back of his mind. Randy said,"Not in the back of my mind, there are a lot of interesting fights being suggested to him, including at light heavyweight." He did later say that he would like to try again against Brock.
